The 2014 race for U.S. Senate was officially launched on Thursday when Dr. Monica Wehby’s campaign team released her new video, ‘Keep Your Doctor – Change Your Senator,’ which holds Sen. Jeff Merkley accountable on his record of support of The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Dr. Wehby’s ad has been picked up by Michelle Malkin, Hotair.com, and the Boston Globe, just to name a few.
In November, Sen. Merkley tried to distance himself from President Obama’s broken promise that if people liked their insurance, they could keep it; however, as more information was released, it was revealed that many in the Obama administration knew Americans would not be able to keep the plans they liked. Merkley and a dozen of his Democrat colleagues also tried to appear as though they wanted the public to keep their plans by putting together a bill allowing them to do so, but only with conditions. Furthermore, instead of blaming himself or the administration for the failures at hand, he continues to hold states and insurance companies liable after they have complied with the dictates of the law. By ordering companies to change back, it creates an added expense to the companies and manipulates established law creating more chaos.
Dr. Wehby enters a field with four other Republicans, but she is also getting attention largely due to an impressive career as a physician, who has served as a trustee and president of many medical associations and boards. She has also been a recipient for the congressional medal of honor for improving the lives of children.
At a time when healthcare is of great concern to Americans, who better to make a difference in Oregon and in the nation than an undisputed expert in the field?
Dr. Ben Carson, who has become a strong voice in conservative politics making regular appearances on Fox News, is giving Dr. Monica Wehby his support. Like Dr. Wehby, Dr. Carson is a pediatric neurosurgeon, who has been very vocal in opposition to the Affordable Care Act.
On January 31, 2014, Dr. Carson will be coming to Wilsonville, Oregon to appear with Dr. Monica Wehby for a fundraising event at McMenamins Old Church & Pub located at 30340 SW Boones Ferry Rd. For $1500, guests can attend a private dinner; $250 buys a photo and a signed book, and $25 gets an invitation to the reception.
The time has yet to be determined, so visit Dr. Wehby’s website at www.monicafororegon.org for upcoming details. Her Facebook and Twitter information is also available on the website.
