Pursuit leads to Arrest of Man for Reckless Driving

Saturday, September 20, 2014– A traffic stop and pursuit, results in the arrest of a 26-year-old man

Sheriff’s Deputies serving the City of Cornelius stopped a vehicle on September 20th at 3:08 a.m., on South 10th Avenue at South Flax Plant Road for several traffic violations. As the deputy approached the car, the driver took off at a high rate of speed. The deputy did not pursue the green Cadillac, but radioed the information to other deputies serving the City of Cornelius.

A second deputy saw the suspect vehicle traveling north bound on S 10th Ave. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect refused to stop and led the deputy on a pursuit. During the pursuit the suspect threw property out of the window. The suspect vehicle eventually stopped at NW Susbauer Road and NW Hobbs Road.

The driver, Kyler Martin of Beaverton, was arrested without further incident. Deputies found paper money along the side of the road that they suspect Mr. Martin threw from the car. They also found about five ounces of marijuana in the car. Mr. Martin was booked into the Washington County Jail on the following charges:
* Attempt to Elude Police
* Reckless Driving
* Recklessly Endangering Another Person (Passenger in the car)
* Offensive Littering
* More charges may be pending.
