On Saturday September 13, 2014, at 10:21 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash into a pole at Northeast 111th Avenue and Halsey Street. As officers were en route to the call, additional information was reported stating that the driver ran from the scene of the crash.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located a 30-year-old male on the ground. Witnesses told police that the man was a passenger in the vehicle and stepped out of the car before collapsing to the ground.
Medical personnel transported the man to a Portland hospital where he was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police that the driver who left the scene was a male Hispanic in his late 30s to mid-40s.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and an investigation into the crash is continuing by the Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team.
