On October 29, 2013, Portland Police officers responded to the Main Post Office, located at 715 NW Hoyt Street, on the report of a disturbance on the third floor. Seven members of a group, Portland Communities and Postal Workers United, were arrested.
When officers arrived they contacted several Postal Service employees and several protesters who were involved in a disturbance. Postal Service employees told police that the protesters were attempting to enter a secure area and were told to leave when a scuffle broke out between a Postal Inspector and one of the protesters.
The group has spent the past year fighting Postal Service cutbacks.
The protestors were arrested for Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree.
