Man Tried To Bribe ICE Officer To Deport Estranged Wife, Daughter

A man who tried to bribe an ICE officer appeared in federal court on Friday. Antonio Oswaldo Burgos, 48, of Portland, made an initial appearance in federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Papak.

The three-count indictment alleges that Burgos, on three separate occasions, attempted to bribe a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation officer. Burgos is accused of offering to pay the officer in order to facilitate the deportation of his estranged wife and daughter.

Burgos was released pending trial. A two-day jury trial is scheduled for August 28, 2018 before U.S. District Court Judge Michael H. Simon.
