Over 200 reports of trees, limbs down in Eugene

eugene-stormThe City of Eugene Public Works urban forestry and parks crews are responding to more than 200 reports of down trees and limbs on local streets as a result of Saturday’s ice storm.

Tree crews have been working round the clock since Saturday morning to keep streets open in Eugene. The City of Eugene is coordinating closely with Eugene Water & Electric Board to ensure safety if power lines are snagged in ice-encrusted toppled trees and branches.

According to the City, crews are prioritizing calls throughout the city, with trees blocking major thoroughfares as the highest priority.

Plowing is continuing on second and third priority routes but travelers are advised driving/walking remains hazardous in many areas.
